# Vendor bio for market applications.

A strong vendor bio says what you make or do, who you serve, what makes it yours, and why it fits this event, in a few short sentences. Lead with your product, not your life story. Use the formula and examples below, then adapt each one to the market you are applying to.

_Updated 2026-10-11._

## Four parts, in this order.

- What you make or sell, in plain words: "I make [Product] by hand in [City]."
- What makes it yours: your method, materials, style or story, in one line.
- Who it is for, and what a shopper can expect: price range in words, sizes, custom orders.
- Why this event: what you bring that fits its audience, and any past markets.

## Before you submit.

- Does the first sentence say exactly what you sell?
- Did you name something specific, not just "high quality" or "unique"?
- Did you match the tone and the audience of the event?
- Does it agree with your photos and your website or Instagram?
- Is it within the word limit on the application? Trim to fit.
- Did you avoid claims you can't back up, such as "best in the area"?

## Write it once and reuse it.

- Your storefront holds your description, photos and packages in one page you can link from any application.
- Apply to markets and events on bzar and pay booth fees by card.
- Keep your licenses, permits and insurance certificates on file to reuse across applications.

## Questions

**How do I describe my business on a vendor application?**

Say what you make or sell, what makes it yours, who it is for, and why it suits this event. Keep it concrete and short. Use plain words and mention your materials, method or style, not general praise.

**How long should a vendor bio be?**

Follow the limit on the application. If there is none, a short paragraph of a few sentences is enough. Write a one-line version too, for fields with a small character limit.

**What do market organizers look for in a vendor bio?**

Organizers want to know what you sell, whether it fits their event and category mix, and that you are professional and ready. Specifics and clear photos help them say yes faster.

**Should I write a different bio for each market?**

Keep a core bio and change the last sentence for each event, naming why you fit that audience. That small change shows you read the application.

**Should I write in first person or third person?**

Either works. First person feels personal and suits small makers. Third person suits larger or service businesses. Pick one and use it across all your listings.
