Farmers market vs craft fair

A farmers market mainly sells food from local farms and producers, often weekly and with agricultural rules. A craft fair mainly sells handmade goods such as art and jewelry, usually once or seasonally. Permits, sales tax, health rules and vendor mix differ between the two, so check before you apply or plan.

About farmers market vs craft fair.

Also called: farmers market, craft fair, craft show.

Farmers markets often have producer-only rules, health inspections and sometimes government program participation. Craft fairs focus on product quality, juries and booth layout.

Many markets blend the two, with a few craft vendors and food stalls beside growers. Be clear about which categories you welcome.

Vendors should check whether a food product needs a permit and whether a craft counts as handmade under the organizer's rule.
