Vendor agreement

A vendor agreement is the contract between an event organizer and a vendor. It covers the booth, fees and refund terms, insurance, setup and teardown times, rules about what can be sold, and cancellation. Signing it makes the terms clear before money changes hands.

Explained

About vendor agreement.

Also called: vendor contract, vendor terms, vendor rules and regulations, exhibitor agreement.

Good agreements are short and specific: dates, the space, the fee and when it is due, what is refundable, and what happens if weather or the venue cancels.

They often include a hold harmless clause, a no-show policy and rules about handmade versus resold goods. Vendors should read them before paying.

Collect signatures before the event, not on the day. A signed agreement is the best protection when there is a dispute.

This is general information, not legal advice; check with your city, county or state office or an attorney for your situation.

Organizers can attach documents vendors must sign and send them automatically on approval.
