Contracts
Compose contracts from templates, send a secure signing link, and track views and signatures.
Some features roll out gradually. If you do not see this section in your dashboard, it is not enabled for your account yet.
Contracts give you native e-signature. You compose a contract from a template, send a secure signing link, and track when the customer views, signs, or declines. Signed contracts produce a PDF.
How to create and send a contract
- Open Contracts → New.
- Pick a system template or one of your own templates. Manage your templates at Contracts → Templates.
- Pick a customer. You can also link the contract to a project.
- Review the sections and edit the content.
- Click Send to customer, enter your signature, and confirm. The customer gets a secure signing link.
How to track a contract
Open the contract detail page. It shows:
- An event timeline: sent, viewed, signed, and other events.
- The view count and the time of the first view.
- The decline reason, if the customer declined.
- The signed names of both parties and the signed PDF.
You can filter the contract list by status. The list shows 50 contracts per page.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Not sent yet. |
| Sent | The customer received the signing link. |
| Signed | Both parties signed. The signed PDF is ready. |
| Declined | The customer declined, with a reason. |
| Voided | You cancelled the contract. |
Sign before pay
When you attach a contract template to a quote, the customer must sign the contract before they can accept the quote and pay. This puts the signature ahead of the deposit in the flow.
Good to know
- A signed PDF can be stored in your document vault.
- To combine a contract with a quote, deposit, and scheduling in one client link, use Smart Files.
