Email automations

Send multi-step email sequences that start automatically when a lifecycle event occurs.

Some features roll out gradually. If you do not see this section in your dashboard, it is not enabled for your account yet.

Automations send email sequences for you. A sequence is a series of steps with delays between them. It starts automatically when a trigger event occurs, for example a new inquiry. Open it at Automations in your dashboard.

Before you start

Meet two requirements before a sequence can send:

  1. A connected Gmail account. Sequences send from your own Gmail address. See connect your channels.
  2. A complete business address. United States law (CAN-SPAM) requires a physical address in every automated email. Set your street, city, state, and ZIP at Settings → Automations. Pick your timezone on the same page.

The Automations page shows a banner for each missing requirement.

How to create a sequence

  1. Open Automations and create a sequence. Start blank, or start from a template.
  2. Add steps. Each step has an order, a delay value and unit, a subject, and a body.
  3. Set the trigger event that enrolls a customer.
  4. Optionally set category filters and an exit-goal event. When a customer completes the goal, they leave the sequence.
  5. Activate the sequence. Pause it at any time.

The templates gallery groups ready-made sequences by vendor type: universal, photographer, caterer, DJ, and wedding planner.

Statuses

StatusMeaning
DraftThe sequence is not sending yet.
ActiveThe sequence enrolls customers and sends steps.
PausedThe sequence stops sending until you resume it.
ArchivedThe sequence is retired.

Enrollments

Open a sequence and go to Enrollments to see who is in it. Filter by Active, Completed, or Exited. Each row shows the customer's current step and, for exits, the exit reason. A customer can exit when they unsubscribe, reach the exit goal, reply and engage, or when you remove them.

Unsubscribe list

The Unsubscribes page lists every email address that opted out of your automated emails. Sequences never send to these addresses. Transactional emails, such as invoices and quotes, are not affected.
