Selling at events

Sell live at events with Go Live

Take live orders at an event — attendees order and pay, you accept, prepare, and hand off.

Some features roll out gradually. If you do not see this section in your dashboard, it is not enabled for your account yet.

Go Live turns a BZAR event into a live marketplace. Attendees at the venue order from their phones, you accept and prepare, and they pick up when you notify them. Go Live is for in-person pickup only: no delivery and no remote ordering.

How to build your menu

Your Go Live menu is reusable across events.

  1. Open Go Live in your dashboard.
  2. Import your active product listings. Services cannot be imported, and duplicates are skipped.
  3. Add custom items for anything not in your storefront. Items are flat: no variants, but attendees can add a free-text note.

Imported items can refresh from your catalog later to pick up changes. Use each item's availability toggle as your "ran out" control — turn it off and the item hides from ordering immediately.

How to go live

  1. At the event, open Go Live and flip the live toggle.
  2. Pass the location check. You must be at the venue; if the check fails, the screen shows your distance from it.
  3. You need at least one active menu item to go live. The first time you go live at an event, BZAR copies your menu into that session.

How orders work

Go Live authorizes first and captures later, so you never oversell against walk-up sales. When an attendee orders, their card is only held — it is charged only when you tap Accept. If you tap Decline, or you do not respond within a few minutes, the hold is released: no charge, and no fee.

StatusWhat it means
NewPayment is held. Accept or decline.
PreparingYou accepted. Payment is captured.
Ready for pickupYou marked it ready. The attendee gets an SMS with their order code.
Picked upThe attendee collected the order. Done.
Declined / ExpiredYou declined, or the timer ran out. The hold is released, no charge.
CancelledYou cancelled after accepting. The attendee gets a full refund.

You can also mark an order as a no-show if the attendee never collects it.

Pace the queue

Set a queue cap on your live session to limit open orders. When the queue is full, attendees see "ordering paused" until you clear orders. Remove the cap at any time.

End your session

Flip the live toggle off to end the session. You cannot end it while orders are in progress — the screen shows how many are left. Finish or cancel them first.

Fees and notifications

  • BZAR takes a 3% fee on completed orders, through Stripe. Complete your Stripe setup to sell.
  • Attendees get SMS updates when their order is ready, declined, or expired.
  • If your connection drops for about a minute, your items hide from new orders. In-flight orders survive, and pending orders expire and release their holds. Your taps queue offline and sync when you reconnect.
